Your Invitation Letter:

The 2009 International Conference for Police and Law Enforcement Executives will take place in historic Halifax, Nova Scotia, April 19 - 21, 2009. The conference will be hosted by Chief Frank Beazley and the Halifax Regional Police and the conference theme is "Executive Challenges in the Global Environment." The Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police, Halifax Regional Police, Nova Scotia Association of Chiefs of Police, Canadian Association of Police Boards, and Canadian Professional Management Services will be among the sponsors of this year's conference.

"Executive Challenges in the Global Environment" will highlight the importance of re-examining and re-creating law enforcement organizations to address emerging issues. In addition to highly regarded police chiefs, private sector executives will offer their perspectives on the vital task of adjusting to create the future. An international roster of thirty keynote speakers and panel members from more than eight different countries will share their personal approaches to a variety of issues police executives will face in their career.

This year's conference will highlight four sub themes. The conference will kick off with an examination of leadership issues pertinent to the "global environment." The challenges of the global village, maintaining a global vision and local issues, and lessons in leadership will highlight this session. The second sub-theme, "organizational realities of the future" will highlight generational issues and 2020 planning. This futuristic look will highlight shifts in populations and implications for your role as Chief Executive Officer. A third sub-theme will focus on employees and will highlight "labour issues on the horizon." Can unions evolve with organizational change? Finally, the fourth sub-theme, "work-life balance: myth or reality " will look at issues pertinent to your personal well being.

Each day will include a "Straight Talk with the Experts" session providing delegates with an open forum to interact with the day's presenters.
